Pre-lubricate
catheter. |

Insert catheter into nares and advance gently but quickly – do not
apply suction. (Insert to appropriate length or until resistance

Withdraw catheter by rotating and applying suction.
Do not suction more than 10 - 15 seconds for entire procedure
(insertion and removal). |

Flush
catheter with saline. |

Oxygenate
client and allow a rest period before repeating procedure. |

oral cavity. |

Remove
catheter and place inside glove and dispose of properly. |
