“They Were All
Filled With The Holy Ghost”
Acts 2:1-4
1)
And when the
day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2)
And suddenly
there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3)
And there
appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of
them.
4)
And they were
all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance.

any
scriptures exist regarding the infilling of the Holy Ghost. So, one might ask,
why so much controversy? All the accounts in the Bible agree you must have the
Holy Ghost.
This
scripture is addressed to all unsaved not just Gentiles. Being a “Jew” comes
from the inward man, it is not a right of birth. The scripture states that at
least 120 were in the Upper Room when they were filled with the Holy Ghost.
Today, many would like to believe that not everyone must speak in tongues to
have the Holy Ghost. Well, all 120 in the Upper Room did speak in tongues when
they received the Holy Ghost. In many denominations, they say that it is not
needed because they have not done it. They also attempt to substitute love. The
issue is not love vs. tongues. You must have tongues to exhibit the love of
God. This is the way that man can acquire the “agape” love necessary for
bearing the fruit of the Spirit.
The
scripture states “When the day of Pentecost was fully come”—meaning came in its
fullness, or the 50 days after the Passover Feast came
the “Final Harvest.” On the day of Pentecost, God reaped His harvest.
God
has not changed, His plan has not changed. Man’s sin nature has not changed.
Man’s need has not changed. The solution has not changed. Whatever man thinks
or believes, he cannot change what has already been
established.
Scripture
states that “They were all on one accord”—this is hard to accomplish, but just
as with the infilling of the Holy Ghost, things happen when this is achieved.
It is a must to be success of any endeavor with the Lord.
Scripture
states “there appeared unto them cloven tongues.” The Greek word, “phaneo”
means that it became apparent to them not just with their eyes but through
their hearing that cloven or “separate, different” “glossilia” (languages) were
being spoken by each of them. No little tongues appeared or sat on their heads.
Those
claiming to have received the Holy Ghost should be questioned as to whether
they heard themselves speak in a different language (or tongue). If it happened
in the Upper Room, it has to happen in all places. There is no other evidence
given in the Bible for receiving the Holy Ghost other than tongues.
Why
don’t more receive the Holy Ghost? Man fears control by someone or something
else. This is irrational because you were never in control of your life in the
first place. This is a deception of the devil.
In
the life of a saint, the Holy Ghost acts as a “steering wheel.” But just like
those with “The Club” in their car to prevent steering, too many have “locked
up” God’s ability to “drive” with their own mentality of how they feel.
The
only way to be kept in the perfect will of God is to get “self out of the way.”
It is the only way for Him to be able to steer us around the pitfalls.
No
one is exempt from needing the Holy Ghost. God fills all with the same power
as on the day of Pentecost. We owe our unsaved relatives and friends an opportunity
to receive salvation. We can do nothing for the dead, but if the living receive salvation, they can help the rest of their family
and loved ones to come to the knowledge of the truth.
