“Christ, The Power Of God”

I Corinthians 1:21-24

21)       For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22)       For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23)       But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24)       But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

any people today are looking for solutions to their problems, no matter what that solution might be. They will try many things and still not find the solution to their problems. Even coming to salvation many think that they will not find the solution. The reason being that they feel they have a right to make their own decisions and therefore will not rely on God.

Most often in these situations, people will hold on to their problems and attempt to solve them no matter how painful. We “control freaks” become so obsessed that we will even try to control “others” as well as our own situations.

This is mainly due to the teaching of much of the church world, Apostolic, as well as secular—if you make no decisions for self, you are part of a cult. Fact is, if you make your decisions, you are not saved. Making no decisions for self requires complete submission to the Lord.

It is difficult for a “trained human being” to yield completely to the Lord. But once you are saved and have the power of God, what is the purpose of having this power and not using it? For example, why would you pay for electricity for your home and not use it? We pay nothing to access the “Power Source” and still refuse to allow it to work for us. Once we plug in we do not have to fear electrocution, because we have a right to access that power. It is a shame to come to salvation and fail to identify exactly what the “Power Source” (the Holy Ghost) can do.

Many people’s testimony ends with a shout and “I feel better” now. They totally disregard the Holy Ghost to handle all situations, so they can feel better “24-7.”

Before salvation, we lived on the throne of our own life. After salvation we are suppose to remove ourselves from that position of authority and place God on the throne. It’s not just about going to church because we still may not “know” God. We must experience Him by allowing Him to take us through. It begins with an “intimate” relationship by the baptism in Jesus’ name and infilling of the Holy Ghost as evidenced by speaking in an unknown tongue. The Holy Ghost supersedes natural understanding and goes beyond any knowledge you have obtained to that point.

Once save, you never need to sin again. When you learn to give everything to God, you will never be beaten down or brought to the brink of destruction, and there will be situation in which God cannot be praised.

The greatest knowledge to gain in salvation is learning not to protect ourselves or “avoid” situations. Learn to praise God even in the midst of trouble. Unite with Christ in the power of salvation no matter what. Know that you are already an overcomer. There is more power in praising than complaining. People of God are only defeated because they are not unified with Christ through the power of praise.

If you are tried of being weak and feeling out of control, you need to finally submit to God and enjoy the authority and peace that comes from Him.
